In 2009, I began photographing my fraternity with a focus on youth and masculinity within the context of this under-photographed subculture. Parallel to making pictures, I interviewed current brothers and recent graduates about their experiences, and the theme of loving the experience but having difficulty processing its moral and ethical dimensions comes up frequently. I also made audio recordings of pledgeship events and collected four years’ worth of the fraternity emails, which I self-published in 21 printed volumes.
